C. Adam Carter D.V.M.
Dr. Carter is a 1998 graduate from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. He also has his B.S. in Animal and Dairy Science from Auburn University's College of Agriculture. His main areas of interest are internal medicine, dermatology and soft tissue surgery. He has been at West Gate Veterinary Hospital since January 2000 and has been the owner since October 2003. Originally from Plant City, FL, Dr. Carter now calls Enterprise, Alabama home. He is married to Holly and has one son, John. He has two Great Danes, Abby and Izzy, and one Labrador Retriever, Jeb. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and the Southeast Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Enterprise. When not working at the office, Dr. Carter enjoys working around the house and spending time outdoors with his family.
Christa Bragg D.V.M.
Dr. Bragg has lived in the Enterprise/Fort Rucker since her father, Ret. CW4 Robert E. Fry, was stationed here in 1979. She is a 1990 graduate of Enterprise High School then followed to Enterprise State Junior College for a short period before attending Troy University. She graduated from Troy University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science. She then continued to Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. After battling breast cancer and being a stay at home mom for 7 years, Dr. Bragg joined West Gate Veterinary Hospital in the spring of 2015. Dr. Bragg is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is a cat lover and has a special interest in feline, wildlife, and exotic medicine. She shares her home in Enterprise with her husband – Spencer Bragg and daughter – Maddison Bragg. Dr. Bragg has a pit bull named Capone and 7 cats, including Mufasa – an African serval.
Brett Brooks D.V.M.
Dr. Brooks originally hails from Blakely, Georgia. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Columbus State University. In 2009, she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. She started her career as a mixed animal veterinarian in Blakely, Georgia then moved to Clarksville, Tennessee for 3 years to work in a multi-clinic companion animal practice. Dr. Brooks joined the staff of West Gate Veterinary Hospital in May of 2016. Her main areas of interest include soft tissue surgery, emergency care, and geriatric medicine. She is a member of the AVMA, AL VMA and is the current president of the SEALVMA. She has a crazy happy labrador retriever mix named Dixie, who has a cat named Moxie. Outside of the office she enjoys being outdoors, playing ultimate Frisbee, upcycling pallet wood, and hosting her friends/family.
Cayla is an assistant, and has been with West Gate since May 2014. She has been working in the Veterinary field for 10 years, so her knowledge is exceptional and refreshing to our clients. She and her boyfriend Cole live in Clayhatchee with their 6 year old Pitbull, Abe and their Tabby Cat, Princess Kitty.
Katie is a technician and has been working in our practice since 2011. She comes from a line of military service members and is a strong supporter of the military. She specializes in helping our military or civilian clients with health certificates for their pet(s) travel as they move. Katie is graduate from Jefferson State Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, Major: Veterinary Technology. She is a certified laser therapist and utilizes this skill frequently in our practice. She lives in Enterprise with her 2 dogs – a Belgian Malinois named Zurie and a golden retriever named Ava.
Bree is a technician and has been working in our practice since 2010. She is a certified laser therapist and her experience in laser therapy stems all the way back to 2008. Bree graduated from Jefferson State Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, Major: Veterinary Technology and also from Troy University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences. She lives in Opp, AL with her husband, Dave who works for SunSouth. They share their home with 2 cats: Monster and Nessie and 3 dogs: Damon, Harbin, and Tink.
Mary Kate Rhodes
Mary Kate is an assistant and certified laser therapist. She has been working at our practice since September 2013. She has her Associates degree in Science from LBW, Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Troy University, and is certified in ultrasound from LBW. Mary Kate is currently attending the veterinary technician program at Jefferson State. She moved from her hometown of Troy, AL to Hartford, AL with her husband, Aaron, who works as a firefighter with Fort Rucker. Mary Kate has many animals, but currently living with her and her husband are their 3 dogs (Ryder, Bates, and Jake) and 3 kitty cats (Oliver, CeCe, and Marvel).
Mary is no stranger in the veterinary community here in Enterprise. She previously worked with us here at West Gate Veterinary Hospital for 2 years before deciding it was time to pursue another dream of hers. In 2006 Mary opened up Pampered Pets Paradise where she quickly built a very successful business in our community. Mary enjoys taking care of animals as well as being outdoors. In May 2015, Mary decided it was time to move on from her business and she made the decision to rejoin our team here at West Gate. We are proud to welcome her back as one of our veterinary assistants.
Christy is a diligent employee that we’ve had at West Gate since December 2014. She is a certified laser therapist and utilizes this certification daily. Christy and her husband, Brandon, have one son named Grayson. They also have two fur children, June and Hank – both boxers. Christy loves being with her family here in Enterprise.
Jen is an assistant and has been on our team since May of 2016. Jen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Troy University. She currently resides in Enterprise, AL with her boyfriend Brandon, who is a Marine. They have a Blue Heeler named Gabby and a Belgian Malinois named Murph. Jen’s interests outside of work are watching football, working out and spending time with her family. Jen is a certified laser therapist.
Kristen has been one of our favorite clients that we are so happy to now have as an assistant. She is a 2006 graduate from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Kristen, an Enterprise native, recently moved back to the City of Progress to be closer to her parents, as her dad continues his career as an Army Apache helicopter instructor pilot. Kristen has a big heart for animals, and has two German Shepherds (Phifer and Fred) and a Blue Heeler (Tig).
Sue is originally from Enterprise when her father retired from the Army in 1989. She is a '94 graduate of Enterprise High School. She joined the United States Air Force in 1995 and served her country proudly for 9 years. While she was active duty her job was a Military Working Dog handler. During her time in service she received a degree in criminal justice. After leaving the military she continued training and working with dogs. She trained explosive dogs for the United States Marine Corp while in North Carolina. She recently returned from Iraq where she worked as a contractor for several years. While she was there, she looked for explosives with her canine. She is currently enrolled in the veterinary technician program through Jefferson State. She has been employed with West Gate since August 2016.
Jenny is one of our kennel care workers who has been with us since September 2016. She is from Daleville and has lived there for 20 years. Jenny graduated from Enterprise High School in 2014. She loves to ride her horses in her spare time and play with her new puppy, Squirt.
